Boston, MA: Dorchester Brewing Company, a partially gay-owned brewery in Boston, MA, received the 2019 Boston Pride Parade Best Float Award at Boston Pride’s Fall Open House on Tuesday, October 29. This is the second year that the brewery has participated in the parade with floats designed and built by Craft’d Company, a woman-owned, Boston-based events and marketing firm that specializes in working with breweries.

Craft’d Company worked with the brewery to bring their “rolling beer garden” float to life; complete with turf, flowers, traditional biergarten tables and rainbow-filled beer steins. In 2018, Dorchester Brewing Company’s first year participating in the parade, the brewery was the first runner up for the Best Float Award.

The 2019 Boston Pride Parade brought record-breaking crowds and participation. According to organizers, more than 750,000 people took part in the parade with over 400 groups marching. Dorchester Brewing Company invited their staff and patrons to participate by riding on and marching with the float.

In addition to marching in the parade, Dorchester Brewing Company celebrated Pride with multiple taproom events and the release of a limited edition Pride beer, All Rainbows Everything. The brewery donated a portion of the proceeds from All Rainbows Everything sales to BAGLY: The Boston Alliance of Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender Youth.

This award comes as many local breweries are taking steps to further diversity and inclusion in the craft beer industry. Dorchester Brewing Company has also partnered with Roca Boston in the Lewis Family Foundation’s Jobs Action Tank, which supports key community organizations through its goal to place 700 young people from Dorchester, Roxbury, and Mattapan into full-time jobs earning at least $38,000 in annual income by the end of 2020.

More than 150 Brewers Came Together For Learning, Networking and The Love of Good Beer.

MBG Con Group.jpg

Knowledge sharing is what makes the craft beer industry special and sets us a part from other industries. It’s amazing to see colleagues and friends jumping in to help a fellow brewer in need – lending cans, ingredients and advice.

Despite our numbers -- now 188 breweries across the Commonwealth – our industry is still young. We are still converting and educating macro beer drinkers, and working to keep consumers drinking and loving craft beer.

Continuing our education, sharing what we know, and attending events like MBG Con ensures that MA Beer will always have the highest quality standards possible..

The MBG’s second annual conference drew 150 attendees to Jack's Abby Craft Lagers and helped to raise $10,000 for our association. These are crucial funds to aid our organization’s work -- to protect and promote the interests of craft brewers.

Our voice carries the most weight on Beacon Hill when we are unified. When we are all working together for a common goal. We are currently working to combat decades old franchise laws, to achieve selling rights at farmers’ markets, to expand brew pub rights for self-distribution, and are working to keep our seasonal beer gardens.

the featured brewery's beers with the brewers themselves.

Special edition Mass Beer Week events will be held at the following breweries:

Each Beers with the Brewers series is grouped by county so attendees can learn about all of the breweries in their surrounding communities. Craft’d Company has been running three series in Middlesex, Norfolk, and Suffolk counties over the past ten months. The company will launch it’s Bristol County Series with Shovel Town Brewery in Easton, MA; Craft’d Company Founder & CEO Christine Healy’s hometown.

Of the company’s fourth series launch, Healy said, “The reception for our Beers with the Brewers events from both partner breweries and attendees has been overwhelmingly positive. Each event has been a unique experience and has allowed each brewery’s distinct spirit to
shine through. It’s exciting to be hosting three events back-to-back during Mass Beer Week and

to launch our Bristol County series. Working with Shovel Town Brewery, a fantastic community-focused brewery located in the town where I grew up, is the cherry on top.”

As a special addition to the Beers with the Brewers events during Mass Beer Week, Craft’d Company will be giving back to the Mass Brewers Guild, the state’s nonprofit organization that works to protect and promote the interests of craft brewers across the Commonwealth.

The company will donate $1 when attendees share the official event hashtags, #MassBeerWeek and #BeersWithTheBrewers, on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter from their events. Mass Beer Week, organized by the Mass Brewers Guild and BeerAdvocate, celebrates Massachusetts-produced beer and the local craft beer community with numerous events. The week will culminate with the Power Beer Fest on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at the SoWa Power Station in Boston.
